Feature, unit and token
Secure Feature Activation can activate or deactivate individual unit features. Each feature has an identifier and state. A prepared token carries permission for the vehicle and feature; the same feature name on two cars does not establish an identical method.
SFA and FSC use separate procedures and may serve different features in one car. Choose the mechanism from the installed system and the permission being checked.
What VIN retrieval provides
A complete 17-character VIN is used to prepare tokens for available factory SFA features. The package contents depend on the vehicle records. It does not purchase arbitrary new options.
Retrieval is not diagnosis. E-Sys also needs current unit data in SVT Actual to read feature states, particularly after replacement.
Check the scope before writing
This example uses the standard SFA module in E-Sys 25.10.01 with a connection and suitable prepared response. The module processes all SFA units shown in the tree, rather than one selected unit.
Check incl. DELETE Token: it allows deactivation of features absent from the target set. Restoring one feature does not establish that other features should be deleted.
Example
- Open SFA and read or load appropriate SVT Actual. Check the unit tree.
- Read VIN, or enter it for a saved SVT, and compare it with the vehicle.
- In the SFA module, use Read actual SFA state. Find the feature and record its initial state.
- In Secure Feature Activation, select the response in File Name and check the scope and deletion option.
- Apply Write SFA token under the relevant procedure and inspect the messages.
- Read actual SFA state again, compare the result and test the feature in the vehicle.
If the feature remains unavailable
For rejection, keep the message, unit and package details. If the permission state is correct but the feature fails, investigate software, settings and equipment. Requesting another package without inspecting the result does not explain the cause.
