What FSC Pack provides
FSC codes enable vehicle functions. The FSC Pack module in BMW Online Tool requests a vehicle-specific package by VIN. Identify the control unit and feature requiring a code before requesting it.
A visible menu item does not establish that its activation code is available in the package. Check the intended vehicle and feature rather than choosing by model alone.
What SFA means
SFA stands for Secure Feature Activation. Control units supporting it use the corresponding activation mechanism. It is not a renamed FSC file.
Prepare the full VIN17 for an online SFA package order. The result belongs to that vehicle and must be applied separately.
FSC, SFA and NCD serve different purposes

Writing NCD does not replace a missing activation. Receiving FSC or SFA data is not a complete ECU repair or coding procedure.
Restoring a feature versus buying an option
Describe the intended result first. Restoring an existing feature after repair and purchasing a new option are different tasks. Requesting a package by VIN does not itself purchase options.
For example, if a feature stops working after head-unit replacement, record the VIN, exact head-unit identification and diagnostic message. That symptom alone does not establish whether FSC, SFA or coding is required.
Before requesting a package
- Verify the VIN against the vehicle.
- Identify the ECU and feature.
- Record any ECU replacement or software update.
- Keep the exact diagnostic error.
- Check which file the tool requires and how the result will be applied.
Using the result
Store the package with the vehicle records and order details. Apply it using instructions for the intended ECU and tool. Renaming an FSC file does not turn it into SFA data.
If an expected code is missing, keep the package contents for support review. Repeating an order or requesting an SFA rebuild does not guarantee a new feature.
Where to find the functions
The BMW Online Tool license page lists application modules. The separate SFA service has its own ordering route. An application module does not imply an equivalent web form.
