Scope and inputs
This guide uses Comfort Mode → FSC in E-Sys 25.10.01 with the vehicle connected, where the particular unit's procedure specifies this module. An FSC file alone does not establish that this is its application method.
Prepare the appropriate code, this vehicle's FA and target parameters. For navigation, check map coverage first. View the file without writing through Editors & Viewers → FSC Editor and File → Open.
Understand the fields
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic Address (hex) | Unit address |
| Base Variant | Unit variant |
| Application Number (hex/dec) | FSC application |
| Upgrade Index (hex/dec) | Permission upgrade index |
Obtain values from the unit, code and procedure. Check number base as well as value for hex/dec fields.
Example
For navigation restoration, choose a code suitable for the vehicle and installed maps.
- In Comfort Mode → FSC, select FSC and FA. Use read VIN out of FA and Read VIN, then compare the identifier.
- Enter verified unit and permission parameters. Run Check FSC status and Save the initial messages.
- Where writing is required, run Write FSC and wait for the result. After success, use Update FSC to check and activate it.
- Investigate any rejection from its exact message.
- Run Check FSC status again with the same parameters and compare the saved states.
- Test the maps and route calculation in the vehicle.
Upgrade FSC combines writing, checking and activation. Separate actions here make each result visible.
Assess completion
File selection, writing and permission acceptance are separate stages. If the code is active but the function fails, save diagnostic messages and check its other requirements. Factory FSC may cover particular map versions; activation does not expand that coverage.
