Identify the data
VIN is the complete 17-character vehicle identifier. FA describes the configuration. SVT lists units and their hardware and software components. For NCD preparation, FA defines the required equipment settings and SVT identifies the units involved.
Factory FA provides the original FA only, without SVT. Obtain suitable unit data separately when the job requires a pair.
Record the source and state
| Source | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Vehicle read | State at the time of reading |
| Factory records | Original configuration |
| Latest known records | Latest information available in that source |
| Calculation for a job | Intended state for the procedure |
The retrieval date is not the date of the described state. Recent downloads can contain old records. Note the vehicle, source, read date and subsequent changes. Label SVT as Actual or Target.
Inspect the pair
In E-Sys 25.10.01, open saved FA in the FA/FP editor through File → Open and check configuration and VIN. Load the appropriate SVT in Coding, keeping Actual and Target distinct.
After replacement or software changes, compare older SVT with the installed units again. Keep the original FA separate from a version prepared for a retrofit. File names and extensions cannot establish suitability.
Example
For a replacement unit, obtain FA for the intended configuration and unit data reflecting the installed hardware and software. Do not assume the SVT saved before replacement is still appropriate.
Keep the inputs in the job folder and submit the matching pair for NCD preparation. Store the result separately beside it. Compare required CAFD entries with the received data before writing. A partial result may cover only some entries; file count alone is insufficient because one unit can have several CAFD.
What the pair establishes
Saved inputs document the basis of preparation. Applying the result and checking the vehicle are separate tasks. If the vehicle changes between preparation and application, check the data again for that operation.
